Ginkgo is derived from the world's oldest living tree species. It has been used medicinally in China for over 5,000 years. Extensive studies have revealed that Gingko particularly improves the blood flow to your brain & extremities. It does so by relaxing & therefore dilating the muscle walls of small blood vessels, decreasing inflammation & platelet clumping, & improving the fluidity of blood. Gingko also improves symptoms of cerebral vascular insufficiency by relieving dizziness, headaches, weakness, behavioral abnormalities, depression, anxiety, memory, concentration & attention span problems. Ginkgo biloba should not be used by anyone at increased risk of bleeding such as individuals on blood thinners including aspirin, heparin or warfarin. It should not be taken by people with uncontrolled blood pressure or diabetes. Side effects reported with ginkgo biloba include high blood pressure, abdominal distress and allergic reactions. Do not exceed recommended dose. Pregnant or nursing mothers, children under 18, and individuals with a known medical condition should consult a physician before using this or any dietary supplement.
