Actifolate is a blend of three types of folic acid and is the most comprehensive folic acid formula available. Folic acid supplementation is critical for people who have a genetic problem affecting the natural chemical reaction in the body known as methylation. Methylation plays a very important role in multiple metabolic processes and is critical to health. When this reaction does not work correctly, health problems may result. The adequacy of methylation reactions is measured by checking the level of homocysteine in the bloodstream. Elevated homocysteine has been linked with cardiovascular disease and dementia. If your homocysteine level is elevated (more than 10), you may want to take Actifolate. In most cases, Actifolate will significantly lower homocysteine levels, although sometimes it needs to be combined with TMF and Vessel Care. Various medications may cause you to be deficient in folic acid. Some types of anemia may be caused by a folic acid deficiency. Actifolate contains a natural, easy to absorb form of folic acid – folinic acid – which is the only type that can cross the blood brain barrier and enter the brain. Folic acid supplementation has also been found helpful at preventing several types of cancer. It also helps clear toxins and is critical for preventing birth defects. By taking Actifolate you may experience improvements in mood, heart health, red blood cell count, while possibly reducing cancer risk as well. For health maintenance, we recommend one tablet of Actifolate once or twice a day. Side effects from folic acid supplementation are rare, but can include allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching or wheezing. Folic acid supplementation can exacerbate the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency, so B12 and folic acid should be taken together. Discuss the use of Actifolate with your physician if you have a B12 deficiency.
